Formed in 2012, out of a mutual love of melodic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, ITHACA draw influence from everything from Southern doom to 90s's math rock as well as the passionate untethered savagery of early Poison The Well and melodious chaos of Oathbreaker. The result is crushing grooves, shrieking guitar squalls that give way to haunting melodic passages and desolate reprieves.
Following on from 2014's self-released EP 'Narrow The Way', 'Trespassers' contains four tracks of elegant yet abrasive hardcore that delves into the depths of disappointment, displacement and the inevitable disintegration of human relationships.
The London quintet's latest EP is due for release on 17 July 2015 by Manchester based labels COF Records and Soaked In Torment Records. It'll be available on frosted clear seven-inch vinyl with hand-screened artwork and limited to just 300 copies.
The record comes in a hand-risographed blue outer sleeve, along with a hand-risographed blue poster, with green-to-blue gradient risograph print on reverse. Copies with blue sleeves are available from COF/Soaked In Torment and copies with green sleeves are available direct from the band.
'Trespassers' was recorded and mixed by Joe Clayton at Nø Studio (Caïna, Old Skin, Trudger) and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright (Code Orange, Harm's Way, Self Defense Family) with artwork and layout by Dia Artio (Caïna, Esoteric Youth, Heksed). Additional vocals on 'Wither & Wane' by Joe Clayton.
